Summary: I've changed the title of this volume, as I've decided to keep it short and only include the events of the weekend and early Monday morning, which you already know and in which there are precious few blessings. I'll then start a fresh volume when I get to Hilda's dream, after which the rough seas calm down a little, hopefully, and I'll be posting new, unread chapters. Thank you for your patience with this re-post.

1. Chapter 1 - A Thread of Grace by MaryR [Reviews - 26] starstarstarstarhalf-star (7661 words)
Thank you so much for joining me for the re-start of Volume 9. For those who haven't read the message I posted on the resurrected Vol 8 yesterday, I was trying to post a new chapter last Monday, but it went wrong so I decided to delete the chapter and start again. Alas, I deleted the whole volume by mistake. Goodness only knows how, as it wasn't the first time I'd deleted chapters. Anyway, I now plan to re-post a chapter - sometimes 2 - every day until I've re-posted all the lost ones. The only thing I really mourn are all the wonderful reviews, some of which took you so long to write. I've hated to disappoint you after all your goodness to me. Many thanks to those kind people who posted comments on Vol 8 yesterday and today. I really wasn't expecting that!

May I suggest you *favourite* this Vol 9 again, as the old *favouriting* won't work for it. Keep your fingers crossed that all goes well this time, and do re-read the last chapter of Vol 8 if you've forgotten where we are.

2. Chapter 2 - A Father's Influence by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (7349 words)
Clair and shesings, thank you so much for commenting a second time. You're very kind, and I do appreciate it.

3. Chapter 3 - The Cobwebs of Ignorance by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (5629 words)
You really are the kindest people, shesings, Blueskye, Clair and Sarah. Thank you so much for posting additional comments to the ones you wrote the first time round..

4. Chapter 4 - A Twilight Gift Unbidden. by MaryR [Reviews - 8] starstarstarstarstar (5389 words)
I said I'd try and post another tonight, so here you are, my friends!

Shesings, yet again you find time to add a review. Thank you so much for the support. It's not lonely doing these repeats while you're there... *grins*

5. Chapter 5 - Wheresoever He May Lead You by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (4556 words)
My goodness, I've just opened up after having a house full of visitors all day, and am stunned that so many of you would post such lovely comments a second time round. You are truly magnificent and Hilda would be proud of you. Charlota4th, thanks so much for joining the mayhem.

6. Chapter 6 - A Time to Speak by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (5418 words)
Thank you for the several comments on different chapters.

7. Chapter 7 - Something Brave and Beautiful by MaryR [Reviews - 8] starstarstarstarstar (5393 words)
Thanks so much for your kindness in writing three reviews, Clair.

This was the 9th chapter the first time round, as am trying to fit more in each chapter and get there more quickly. Alas, I lost the whole blinking document this afternoon, and we had to try and resurrect it from the hard drive. Funnily enough, it was easier to go through SLOC's laptop than mine to retrieve it. Go figure!

8. Chapter 8 - Never Shirking The Hard Things in Life by MaryR [Reviews - 8] starstarstarstarstar (7408 words)
Thank you for those loving reviews. Your support is helping me get through this re-posting, because I really feel very angry with myself.

9. Chapter 9 - Hilda Speaks From A Full Heart by MaryR [Reviews - 9] starstarstarstarstar (6491 words)
I think ND's readers must be the kindest people on the planet. Thank you for trying so hard to make this re-posting easier.

10. Chapter 10 - A Time to Heal Others by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (6853 words)
Oh, goodness, I opened the laptop, and was reduced to tears when I found all your beautiful reviews. God bless you all.

I'm sorry to be so late with this, but I've spent the day across in Chester with my own Mother Abbess. Like Kate, she packs a punch and leaves you reeling - but also much better and more at peace.

11. Chapter 11 - With Integrity of Heart by MaryR [Reviews - 6] starstarstarstarstar (5961 words)
Thank you, shesings, Elder and Blueskye for your reviews on the last chapter. Indeed, thank you for posting so many.

I apologise to all for no update yesterday, but I was really too tired to focus for long on the laptop screen. Putting in the symbols for italics etc was beyond me.

12. Chapter 12 - The Sabbath Rang Slowly by MaryR [Reviews - 9] starstarstarstarstar (5518 words)
Thank you, shesings, Elder and Blueskye - my three musketeers, which I think makes Clair D'Artagnan, as she too has been very generous.

Blueskye, when you start to read this chapter, you'll see you blinked and missed the point where Hilda actually fell asleep! *grins* Thanks for worrying about her.

13. Chapter 13 - A Confused, Contrary Heart.. by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (7446 words)
Oh, goodness, Fiona and Clair, you have been busy! Thank you so much for writing separate reviews for so many chapters at once, both of you. I am blown away by your generosity! Thank also to Celia, and to the ever faithful Elder, Blueskye and shesings. Both Hilda and I are overcome!

14. Chapter 14 - Trainee Shepherds by MaryR [Reviews - 6] starstarstarstarstar (5912 words)
Some really insightful messages from you about poor Kathie. Thank you all so much.

15. Chapter 15 - Sweet Encouragement by MaryR [Reviews - 8] starstarstarstarstar (5900 words)
Sorry for not posting yesterday, but was floundering a little myself. *rolls eyes* Pauline, I'm not quite sure how you managed to read and review all the chapters you missed, but you deserve a gold star and a Smartie! Thank you. Thanks also to shesings and Elder for thoughtful reviews.

Oh, and please do go and read Blueskye's review. She gives a wonderful, breathtaking summation of Mary's character, and her reasons for acting as she did in that situation.

16. Chapter 16 - A Touch of Rosy Sunset by MaryR [Reviews - 8] starstarstarstarstar (8675 words)
Thank you so much for the huge number of reviews on that last chapter. My words are the same as Hilda at the end of this chapter - how do I ever thank you for keeping me going with this re-post?

I'm sorry this is rather late, but I've added a whole new section in the middle of it, between Hilda and Isobel, after recalling something one reviewer said during my initial posting. I'm not sure it's any good, and it's made the whole thing rather longer than usual, but enjoy! A little gift as a thank you for accompanying me on this re-post!

17. Chapter 17 - From Caring Comes Courage by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (9621 words)
"God dusts off her hands and says 'see what I did there?'” Never were truer words spoken, Blueskye. Nothing is a coincidence. God never leaves us helpless and alone, but brings people into our lives who can share the same bitter experiences and help us. And why shouldn't He be She? *grins*

Thank you so much, everyone, for the many and varied responses to that little extra in the last update. But I forgot the tea! Hilda was going to offer her some! Honest! Gah!

I'm sorry for the length of this chapter...

18. Chapter 18 - As Iron Is Consumed by Rust by MaryR [Reviews - 6] starstarstarstarstar (6021 words)
Thank you for your reviews, shesings, Anne, Elder, Pauline and Clair. Well-spotted, those of you who suggested I'd added more to the last chapter as well as to Isobel's chapter. I've been adding little bits all along the way, some just a few words, other times a few sentences or even a paragraph or two, as with MA. I simply can't help tinkering, which is why it takes me so long. *rolls eyes in despair*

This was Chapter 21 the first time round, so I'm getting there as quickly as I can.

19. Chapter 19 - Accountable by MaryR [Reviews - 9] starstarstarstarstar (6096 words)
Thank you so much for the interesting comments on that chapter about Kathie and her waywardness. I was touched. Lynne and Charlotta, thank you so much for popping in on this re-post. You won't have got an alert for my comments on your reviews, but they are there.

20. Chapter 20 - The Good Not Done, the Love Not Given. by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (6369 words)
Thank you for all the reviews of 'Accountable', my friends. It was very kind of you. Thanks, also, to Linda, for writing goodness knows how many reviews all in one go.

I'm sorry for the silence since last weekend, but we went away to daughter's for a few days.

21. Chapter 21 - Golden Streams by MaryR [Reviews - 5] starstarstarstarstar (5946 words)
You know, the generosity of ND's readers is extraordinary! Thank you so much for not ignoring this re-post, but helping it along with vast encouragement every chapter, so I get the whole thing done and dusted. I had intended to post yesterday but was just too tired after a very busy week.

22. Chapter 22 - Her Father's Hand Holding Her Tight by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (6740 words)
Thank you Clair, shesings, Pauline and Elder, for the loving comments on that last chapter, where Hilda struggled with so many things.

23. Chapter 23 - Two Ruptured Souls by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (6301 words)
You have no idea how much you encouraged me just now, when I read all your great reviews, as I'm feeling rather down and out. Details on the board!

24. Chapter 24 - The Stubborn Heart Learns to Bend by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (6130 words)
Such loving, gentle reviews! Thank you for the insights, and for the posts on the board re our problems.

I've been trying to post this for over an hour, but the whole thing wouldn't fit. It will only take so many words, I discovered when I managed to delete the whole volume. Even deleting words in this chapter didn't help, so I've left you on a bit of a cliff, I'm afraid.

25. Chapter 25 - My Arrogant Insistence by MaryR [Reviews - 6] starstarstarstarstar (5480 words)
Thank you all for the insightful comments, and pleased to hear you like cliffs, Blueskye, although I do try to avoid them on the whole. "winks"

26. Chapter 26 - A Chastened Spirit by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (5923 words)
Bless you, my five musketeers! Or two of you could be D'Artagnans, I suppose! You are so kind, all five of you, to keep responding on each chapter, as you are. It does give me the incentive to keep going, do thank you.

27. Chapter 27 - Bright Hope for Tomorrow by MaryR [Reviews - 6] starstarstarstarstar (7657 words)
Linda wrote: 'The first part of this chapter, the conversation with Kathie and Mireille, is one of the most inspirational parts of the whole of ND so far.'

Wow, Linda, what a fantastic thing to say! I was overcome when I read it. Thanks to everyone for their comments.

28. Chapter 28 - Thro' The Outer Darkness Burdensome by MaryR [Reviews - 5] starstarstarstarstar (5975 words)
Interesting that several of you commented on the magnitude of love floating around that room, and indeed some of you said the same last time. Love may not be able to cure folk, but it sure keeps us going... so thank you.

29. Chapter 29 - Dark Is A Way - by MaryR [Reviews - 7] starstarstarstarstar (5265 words)
I apologise for the long delay, but it hasn't been a good week in our household. Prayers would be much appreciated.

This will be the last chapter in Volume 9, as I want to put it behind me and start afresh, after the mess I made of it when trying to delete. I'll be starting Volume 10 with Hilda's dream, where of course she's not 'Floundering in Rough Seas" but finding that "Life is Sweet, Life is Sharp". Two more re-posted chapters will follow, and then Chapter 4 will be new to you all. Phew, at long last!
