Thanks Chattie, I've really enjoyed this. I hope that the lack of body or bike means that Mickey decided to start afresh. Would love to see how Mary-Lou gets on as assistant to Dr Francis, hint hint..!
Sorry but a sequel would take me decidedly out of my comfort zone I think. However, do bear in mind that he is a doctor, albeit DPhil rather than medical!

Awwww that's horribly sad! But I'm going to assume that he never actually died. He left the motorbike there on the track and walked away, and in a couple of years he's going to track Mary-Lou down and show her how he's turned his life around and got a job and a new identity and how they can be happy together now because she was right all along.
After all, it's all perfectly explainable ;-)
Thankyou for a lovely drabble, even if you did have to make me invent my own happy ending!
Well, in both the story and the song neither the bike nor the body are found so, who knows?

Really interesting to see the song that inspired this. Sad, but good that there's hope of future happiness for Mary-Lou>
The song has long been one of my favourite Piaf songs but the inclusion of 'Marie-Lou' had never struck me before and then it just had to be written!

Oh!!! But a good ending! And interesting to see where the bunny came from. Really enjoyed this chattie, thank you. I like the "you dolt" but at the end aswell. Thanks.
I hope the bunny which draped itself across my shoulders on a long drive down to London on boxing Day is equally as productive (or actually, more productive given the length of time it took me to write this story!).

Chattie, I've enjoyed this story very much, but what a sad ending for poor Mickey! And what an interesting song. Thanks for writing this for all of us :)
A sad ending indeed, but as I said - blame it on the bunny!
